“I thought I’d never give up my regular moisturizer, until I discovered Squalane!” ~Jennifer Petronis, age 35, copywriter
“He thought I was in my 30s!” I always get compliments that I have beautiful skin. The Squalane really helps the lines seem less defined. When I first met my new husband-to-be, he thought I was in my 30s. He was shocked to find out I had three daughters in their 30s and I was older than him! ~Debby E., age 54
“My skin feels much softer with a dewy glow. From the first application, I sensed Squalane would be the best skin-care product for my face! I have never used such a refreshing skin product as this, and I have tried several expensive products over the years, I am truly amazed….I really love it!” ~Linda Snyder, age 58
“I love my skin again. I have tried so many different products…nothing has performed for me the way Squalane has. I simply can’t believe the way my skin looks. I am a 59-year-old Californian, so my skin has seen more than its share of sun. I looked every bit my age. After two weeks of using Squalane, I feel comfortable enough to go without makeup. I can’t believe it! I’ll use this product forever.” ~Sandra T., 59
“No more fine lines.” “I’m 60 and have taken very good care of my skin since my early teen years. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the information that led me to change to Squalane. I saw results after only about 2 weeks of use. Fine lines are hardly noticeable, and my skin is softer, more supple and I think more eve-textured. The deeper lines around the corner of my mouth have lessened.” ~Anne F., 60
“The small wrinkles on my face are diminishing!” “Since using Squalane, my skin feels super soft and moist. I get a lot of compliments about how young I look – not bad for a 55-year-old that looks 40 – at least that’s what they say.” ~Mary P., age 55
“Age spots and wrinkles seem diminished!” “From the first time I used Squalane on my face, neck and chest, I noticed how my sun-damaged skin seemed to drink it in and get nourished by this great product…those fine lines around my eyes have disappeared. I’m 54 years old, yet co-workers say I must be in my early forties! ~Vicki Allen, age 54

The source they discovered was an abundant, deep-water shark that is rarely sen close to the surface. It’s called the Centrophorus shark. It grows to about 10 feet long, and it thrives in the deep, virtually pollution-free waters off Tasmania in the Southern Hemisphere. The squalane in Ocean Actives Squalane is extracted from the liver of this remarkable deep-sea creature.
“These sharks provide the cleanest, purest form of Squalane on Earth,” Dr. Lark says. “That’s critical point because when you apply something to your skin — you need to know it’s 100% — instead of some chemical formula produced in a laboratory.”

Ocean Actives – anyone use?
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=25260
I have been using Ocean Actives Squalane for several months and LOVE it. It makes my skin so smooth and hydrated. It feels so wonderful. I even rub a bit into my elbows and on my heels. Yummo.
They have some new products and I am interested in the eye cream. Here are the ingredients
Ingredients: Water, Squalane, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth-20, Glyceryl Stearate, Peg-100 Stearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Stearic Acid, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Shea Butter, OxyPeptide™ Yeast Extract, Ginkgo Leaf Extract, Green Tea Leaf Extract, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Vitamin E, Rice Bran Extract, Phytosphingosine, Ceramides 1, 2, and 3, Glucosamine, Citric Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Benzyl Alcohol . . .
I think it is just the squalane. It comes from the liver actually, instead of the guts. I read a post one time (maybe here, maybe somewhere else) and a lady called it shark guts…she was grossed out about it.
The website says: While Squalane is found in your skin, it’s also found in nature—especially in shark liver oil. In fact, the very best source comes from deep-sea Centrophorus shark…The reason Squalane is so different is because it’s the same ingredient found in sebum, a natural compound in your skin that helps your skin cells regenerate. It’s what keeps your skin soft, moist, and young.
I also found a dermalogical report that defines the difference between squalene and squalane and the benefits has found in squalane a natural emolient. It imparts to the skin a suppleness without an unpleasant greasy feel. It readily forms emulsions with fixed oils and lipophilic substances and does not oxidize nor turn rancid. Squalane has also been found to accelerate dye-dispersion in lipsticks, producing a high gloss and acting as a long lasting fixative for perfumes. When applied to wshed or sun exposed skin and hair, squalane helps to restore the lost oils. It has long been known that coating the skin with oils offers considerable protection from sunburn because of a strong absorption band in the erythemogenic region . . .
I have seen a couple of other shark based ones out there and am willing to try them. Squalane is the one you want, it is more stable – Squalene is not and can spoil quickly.

Squalane Skin Care: Ultra-Sensitive Skin
One of the most amazing things about Squalane is that it seems to work its magic for women with all types of skin. My skin, for instance, has always been unltra-sensitive. So I have to be very careful about which moisturizers and make-up I use.
But Squalane worked like magic for me. No redness. No swelling. No reaction at all. And if think about it, it makes good sense. Since Squalane is already in your skin now, it’s almost unthinkable you could have a problem with it.

- Squalane Skin Care – Health News From Botanic Choice
Squalane is used in some of the world’s most expensive cosmetics, and is a great solution to dry, cracked skin that can occur in weather extremes. There are two main sources of Squalane – one is from Shark’s Liver. The other source is from Olive Oil – a time-tested remedy for skin problems.
Squalane moisturizes, protects and smoothes dry, flaking skin. While it can’t cure the root cause of skin conditions like eczema, it can offer relief from the symptoms.
Squalane quickly penetrates with no greasiness and can soften the appearance of laugh lines and wrinkles on the face. Use it under foundation to give your make up a smooth, flawless appearance.

More Squalane, the Younger You Look
“…The Squalane really helps the lines seem less defined. When I first met my new-husband-to-be, he thought I was in my 30s. He was shocked to find out I had three daughters in their 30s and I was older than him!” —Debbie E, age 54
Remember when you were younger and your skin just glowed naturally? Well the reason for that glow was the natural oil in your skin. Scientists call it sebum. And it helps prevent “trans-epidermal water loss” — which is a fancy term for losing all the moisture in your skin. That’s why, on a frigid winter’s day, your skin seems to dry out so quickly.

Now here’s the most amazing part of all: We now know that sebum is actually overflowing with squalane. And as you age, your skin’s squalane levels begin to rapidly decline. For some women, this decline begins as early as their twenties.
But suppose your skin’s squalane levels did NOT decline? Isn’t it more than reasonable to assume that your skin would look smoother, healthier, and younger longer than Nature intended? Of course, it is.
Simply put. . . the less squalane you have in your sebum, the older your skin looks. The more squalane you have, the younger your skin looks.
Benefits of Squalane: Your Skin “Springs to Life” Almost Instantly”
When you apply Squalane to your skin, it seems to almost disappear immediately — with ZERO residue or build-up. It’s almost as if you’re skin recognizes that Squalane is a natural part of its structure.
Within seconds, your skin seems to “spring to life” and firm up. . . . Women reporting almost immediate results.
“Squalane instantly replenishes the glowy youthful look I had when I was younger. In fact, some people have guessed my age in the 30s or early 40s — and being over 50 years old, that’s a great compliment!” —Victoria A., age 50+
“I noticed a difference immediately! All my friends compliment me on my beautiful skin!” —Roni M., age 68
“I noticed an immediate difference… My skin is really soft and moist!” —Cindy G., age 51
Results like these are no accident. When you gently apply a few drops of Squalane into your skin, you are replacing the lost nutrient your skin needs to look smoother, younger, blemish-free and undeniably fabulous.

More Information on Squalane
- Squalene – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Squalane is a saturated form of squalene in which the double bonds have been eliminated by hydrogenation. Because it is less susceptible to oxidation, it is more commonly used in personal care products than squalene.
- Healthy Skin?
Healthy skin protects us from the external environment, keeps us watertight, and prevents germs from getting in. At any age, healthy skin feels smooth, is comfortable to wear, doesn’t sting, and has even coloration. One threat to healthy skin is damage to its barrier function. Lipids, or fats, make up about a third of the outer layer of skin. Wash these away with soaps or solvents and you leave the skin flaky, irritated, and less able to withstand environmental insults. People who have chapped or eroded skin are more likely to get secondary infections. Maintain your skin’s barrier function by using a cream at night that contains squalane, cholesterol, lecithin, and/or shea butter.

Squalane for Moisturizing Skin
Squalane – a natural skin moisturizer is highly promoted by Dr. Susan Lark. The other year I had received a brochure with Squalane product info from Dr. Lark. The brochure tells about a true story from Linda Werner, product manager at Daily Balance, on her experience with Squalane skin moisturizer. Below is Linda’s story and the Squalane information excerpts that I’ve gotten from the brochure. . .

Read what Linda says:
How I nearly started an office riot with a single drop of this crystal-clear nutrient. Here’s how it works and how it can help you transform your aging skin overnight.
It was called Ocean Actives Squalane (pronounced Squa-LON).
What the heck is squalane?
The bottle was sent to me by Dr. Susan Lark, one of America’s most recognized and respected anti-aging specialists. I’ve worked with Susan for years, and she’s become a treasured, trusted friend.
Susan attached a little note to the bottle with a red ribbon, and here’s what it said:
“Dear Linda,
I never really believed in magic, but I do now. Just a drop or two of this amazing nutrient before bedtime will positively transform your skin forever. You just won’t believe how soft, supple, and glowingly gorgeous your skin can be after just one application. I have emptied my medicine cabinet of all the expensive stuff forever. This is all I use now. And my skin hasn’t looked this great since I was 35!”
Signed: Susan Lark, M.D.
Wow! Susan is the absolute voice of reason when it comes to healthy living for women, so I just had to try the Squalane immediately.
The very next morning, when I walked into the office, the heads turned and the questions began…
“My word, Linda, did you have your face done? Your skin looks gorgeous!”
“Linda, you look a dozen years younger today, what’s your secret?!”
So I told them about Squalane, and I showed them the note from Dr. Lark.
Naturally, every woman in the office wanted to try it immediately. The next day, everyone came back for more. Then the next day…and the next day…and the NEXT. Then the unthinkable happened: I left the bottle at home and forgot to bring it in for everyone else. Oops! Not good.
That morning, I had four women standing before my desk. They looked absolutely fabulous. But they weren’t smiling. They just couldn’t imagine being without this remarkable product for even a single day.
Squalane – Best Skin Moisturizer
Lauren looked 10 years younger and I’d swear that her fine lines and wrinkles were fading away…
Paula has always had sensitive skin, and she just adored the fact that the Squalane didn’t leave her skin feeling oily at all. Instantly, she said her skin felt moist and youthful.
Sandy said her husband and kids noticed the difference immediately. “When they noticed the improvement, I was stunned!” she laughed.
Jennifer has combination skin and she was just gushing! “I think of all the money I wasted on those expensive creams, and I want to cry. I have never experienced such a positive improvement so fast,” she told me.
There was one thing they all agreed upon: They wanted more! But since the product had just been launched…you just couldn’t buy Ocean Actives Squalane at the cosmetics counter on the way home from work. (And you still can’t do that, even today.) Yes, back then, I had the only bottle.
That’s when we all realized that this product must be brought to the general public. The sooner, the better. So I called Dr. Lark and we got all the details. And I’m proud to say that we have arranged to bring Ocean Actives Squalane to the general public at the lowest possible price—a teeny tiny fraction of what you probably pay for your current collection of anti-aging products. Plus, we guarantee that you don’t risk a single penny when you try Squalane.

Natural Wrinkle Treatments
July 25, 2008
It took years to get the folds in your face, and it will take time and persistence to unfold.
Scroll down to read the full article ↓
You can start smoothing the wrinkles by relaxing more, by staying out of the sun, by not smoking (smokers have far more wrinkles than non-smokers) and by trying one of the following natural wrinkle remedies from Joan and Lydia Wilen authors of Healing Remedies (Bottom Line’s):
Natural Wrinkle Treatment: Olive Oil
Before bedtime, take extra-virgin, cold-pressed olive oil and massage the lined areas of your neck and face. Start in the center of your neck and, using an upward and outward motion, get the oil into those dry areas. Work your way up to and include your forehead. Let the oil stay overnight.
In the morning, wash with tepid, then cool, water. You may want to add a few drops of your favorite herbal essence to the olive oil, then pretend it costs $60 a bottle.
Natural Wrinkle Treatment – Brewer’s Yeast
This is an internal approach to wrinkles. No, it doesn’t mean you’ll have unlined insides, it means that the nutritional value of brewer’s yeast may make a difference in overcoming the external signs of time.
Start with 1 teaspoon a day of brewer’s yeast in a pure fruit juice, and gradually work your way up to 2 tablespoons – 1 teaspoon at a time.
Some people get a gassy feeling from brewer’s yeast. We were told that that means the body really needs it, and the feelings will eventually go away when the body requirements for the nutrients are met. Huh? We’re not sure what it all means, but we do know that brewer’s yeast contains lots of health-giving properties, and it may help dewrinkle the face. Seem to us it’s worth trying.
Most Popular Natural Wrinkle Treatment
The most popular wrinkle eraser we found requires 1 teaspoon of honey and 2 tablespoons of heavy whipping cream. Mix them together vigorously. Dip your fingertips in the mixture and, with a gentle massaging action, apply it to the wrinkles, folds, lines, creases, crinkles – whatever.
Leave it on for at least half an hour – the longer the better. You’ll feel it tighten on your face as it becomes a mask. When you’re ready, splash it off with tepid water. By making this a daily ritual, you may become wrinkle-free.
Eye Wrinkles
For those of you who haven’t had eye tucks, the nightly application of castor oil on the delicate area around the eyes may prevent the need for cosmetic surgery.
Wrinkle Prevention
- To reduce the tendency to wrinkle, mash a ripe banana and add a few drops of peanut oil. Apply it to your face and neck (remember, upward and outward), and leave it on for at least a half-hour. Wash it off with tepid water. If your do this daily – or even every other day – it should make your skin softer and less likely to get lined.
- If you eat oatmeal for breakfast, separate some of the cooked oatmeal. Add a bit of vegetable oil – enough to make it spreadable – and massage it into your face and neck. Leave this on for a half-hour, then wash it off with tepid water. If you want to be wrinkle-proof, you must repeat the procedure on a regular, daily basis.
- Apply a facial made with equal parts of brewer’s yeast and yogurt. When it dries on the skin, gently wash it off with warm water and pat dry. Give yourself a facial twice a week to help prevent wrinkles.
- Buttermilk is a good wrinkle-preventing facial. Keep it on for about 20 minutes, then splash it off with warm water and pat dry.
Secret Formula – Natural Wrinkle Treatment
This is supposedly the secret formula of a renowned French beauty – combine together and boil 1 cup of milk, 2 teaspoons of lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of brandy. While the mixture is warm, paint it on the face and neck with a pastry brush. When it is thoroughly dry, wash it off with warm water and pat dry.
The best way to prevent wrinkled skin is to avoid excessive sun exposure.
Lip Line Wrinkle Prevention
They way to prevent those little crinkly lines around the mouth is by exercising the jaw muscle. Luckily, the jaw muscle can work the longest of all the body’s muscles without getting tired. So whistle, sing and talk.
Tongue twisters are like aerobics for the mouth, especially ones with “m,” “b,” and “p” sounds. Here are a couple to start with…
- Pitter-patter, pitter-patter, rather than patter-pitter, patter-pitter.
- Mother made neither brother mutter to father.

Natural Beauty Has New Meaning When You Choose A Natural Skin Care Product
April 7, 2008
Every day there is a new health warning cautioning against the very products that make our lives easier. It seems that convenience could be killing us and killing the environment. Now that health food stores and organic markets are becoming more and more common, it is getting easier on consumers to find natural alternatives to the harmful chemical products that have been traditionally used. Or has it?
Trying new products can be a bit of a gamble. Because the market for natural goods is still relatively young, a lot of the name brands are unknown to consumers and this can lead to confusion and anxiety over which products are the best. For example, consider a natural skin care product; these products are fast becoming popular, but which ones are the best and what are the actual benefits? Read more
